Back In The Day Billions For "Supplemental War Spending" Was Attacked

FOX News has produced a web based factoid which allows you to figure out your costs associated with the new $33 billion dollar Supplemental War Spending request from President Obama'

Gone are the days in which a call for "billions for wars" is met with angry protests by those who demand these funds for domestic relief.

President Obama requested $33 billion in FY2010 supplemental funding for the missions in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Pakistan. Most of the additional funds will go to U.S. forces in Afghanistan. Obama has ordered a surge of an additional 30,000 troops to Afghanistan, which will bring the total number of U.S. forces in Afghanistan to almost 100,000 by 2011. Congress has already provided almost $139 billion for FY2010 overseas contingency operations. If approved, the supplemental funds would make the FY2010 funding level greater than the FY2009 funding level.

The Republicans are hypocritical as well. They voted against the previous supplemental spending because the Democrats added spending that had little to do with war. Gone are the days that we should "do it for the troops".

I struggle to understand why anyone would tie their personal fate to either party let alone the American Political process.
