VP Biden Says Afghanistan War Deaths "Worth The Effort"

US Vice-President Joe Biden has told the BBC that the war in Afghanistan is in the interests of the US and the UK.

What happens when a tree falls in the forest but a left wing anti-war activist doesn't hear it?

"It is worth the effort we are making," he said, warning that the terror groups on the border with Pakistan could "wreak havoc" on Europe and the US.
The number of foreign troop deaths has jumped recently, sparking questions in the UK over its involvement in the war.
Mr Biden suggested more sacrifice would have to be made during what he termed the "fighting season".
He was speaking to the BBC's Jonathan Beale during a European trip which has taken him to Ukraine and Georgia.
The vice-president insisted that "in terms of national interest of Great Britain, the US and Europe, [the war in Afghanistan] is worth the effort we are making and the sacrifice that is being felt".
He added: "And more will come".
'Need to succeed'
He said forces were for the first time directly tackling Taleban fighters in some areas of the country.

"This, unfortunately, is the fighting season [...] the trees are up in the mountains again, people are able to infiltrate from the hills of Pakistan, and in Helmand province - where the Taleban had free rein for a number of years, we are engaging them now."

It is a place that, if it doesn't get straightened out, will continue to wreak havoc on Europe and the United States
Joe Biden
And he reiterated the Obama administration's rationale for the conflict.
"This is the place from which the attacks of 9/11 and all those attacks in Europe that came from al-Qaeda have flowed from that place - between Afghanistan and Pakistan."
He said the terror groups who sheltered along the Afghan-Pakistan border combined with the country's role in the international drug trade - supplying 90% of the world's heroin - meant the war in Afghanistan needed to succeed.
"It is a place that, if it doesn't get straightened out, will continue to wreak havoc on Europe and the United States," he said.
He said the goal of the US was both "eradicating terrorism and not planting the seeds for its return," underlining the importance of removing the lucrative heroin-producing poppy crop which funds both al-Qaeda and radical jihadists.
Over the last few years, the US has used controversial drone attacks to hit militant targets in Pakistan from Afghanistan.
Pakistan has in the past expressed concerns about the impact of such military offensives in southern Afghanistan on south-west Pakistan as militants seep over the border into the restive Baluchistan province.
'Courageous warriors'
Mr Biden was full of praise for British troops, calling them "among the best trained and bravest warriors in the world".
But he was unable to comment on the standard of equipment that British troops had been given.
A political row has broken out in the UK over the adequacy of British troops' equipment, after Foreign Office Minister Lord Malloch Brown told a reporter that "we definitely don't have enough helicopters".
Lord Malloch Brown later withdrew his remarks.
Critics say British troops' lack of helicopters has made them more vulnerable to roadside explosives.
Mr Biden said that he was "not in a position to make a judgement" but said he assumed they had all they needed.
Asked about the recent announcement that a report on the closure of the Guantanamo Bay prison camp was being delayed, Mr Biden said the administration had been busy trying to determine what should happen to each of the detainees held there.
"We are going through every single detainee's records ... to make a judgement about whether or not they should be tried [or] ... released and if so what country might take them if we can't get them back to the country of origin because they're going to be tortured or mistreated," he said.
But he expressed confidence that the camp would still be closed according to the timetable laid out by President Barack Obama in January, and hinted that some of the detainees would be retained at another prison.
"We expect before January - well before January - we will have a decision on each and every individual being held."

Magic Negro Watch - A Bevey Of Funny Obama-Mocking Pictures

Magic Negro Watch had better "watch" himself.

He is on a roll with the volume of Obama Photoshopped pictures that he is gaining access to.

All it will take is for one of these pictures to have been produced by Stormfront and M.N.W. will likely be forced off of the air in that the Obama loyalist will seek to use one stone to slay all of the critics using the most effective silencer there is - the cry of RACISM as the motivating force behind all criticsm of Obama!!

Silence or discredit the critics - Obama's agenda is passed.

Its just that simple folks.

After Obama - The Standard July Budget Projection Report Gets Delayed Until After An Important Vote That Might Scare People If Released On Time

White House putting off release of budget update

I've already forgiven most of you for ceasing your "Anti-War" marches despite the fact that both wars are going on.

This, however, is unacceptable.

Do you see how much you all are proving President Johnson correct? That when it comes to certain budget busting entitlement bills - many Americans would rather be sheepishly kept int he dark.

WASHINGTON — The White House is being forced to acknowledge the wide gap between its once-upbeat predictions about the economy and today's bleak landscape.

The administration's annual midsummer budget update is sure to show higher deficits and unemployment and slower growth than projected in President Barack Obama's budget in February and update in May, and that could complicate his efforts to get his signature health care and global-warming proposals through Congress.

The release of the update — usually scheduled for mid-July — has been put off until the middle of next month, giving rise to speculation the White House is delaying the bad news at least until Congress leaves town on its August 7 summer recess.

The administration is pressing for votes before then on its $1 trillion health care initiative, which lawmakers are arguing over how to finance.

The White House budget director, Peter Orszag, said on Sunday that the administration believes the "chances are high" of getting a health care bill by then. But new analyses showing runaway costs are jeopardizing Senate passage.

"Instead of a dream, this routine report could be a nightmare," Tony Fratto, a former Treasury Department official and White House spokesman under President George W. Bush, said of the delayed budget update. "There are some things that can't be escaped."

The administration earlier this year predicted that unemployment would peak at about 9 percent without a big stimulus package and 8 percent with one. Congress did pass a $787 billion two-year stimulus measure, yet unemployment soared to 9.5 percent in June and appears headed for double digits.

Obama's current forecast anticipates 3.2 percent growth next year, then 4 percent or higher growth from 2011 to 2013. Private forecasts are less optimistic, especially for next year.

Any downward revision in growth or revenue projections would mean that budget deficits would be far higher than the administration is now suggesting.

Setting the stage for bleaker projections, Vice President Joe Biden recently conceded, "We misread how bad the economy was" in January. Obama modified that by suggesting the White House had "incomplete" information.

The new budget update comes as the public and members of Congress are becoming increasingly anxious over Obama's economic policies.

A Washington Post-ABC News survey released Monday shows approval of Obama's handling of health-care reform slipping below 50 percent for the first time. The poll also found support eroding on how Obama is dealing with other issues that are important to Americans right now — the economy, unemployment and the swelling budget deficit.

The Democratic-controlled Congress is reeling from last week's testimony by the head of the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, Douglas Elmendorf, that the main health care proposals Congress is considering would not reduce costs — as Obama has insisted — but "significantly expand" the federal financial responsibility for health care.

That gave ammunition to Republican critics of the bill.

Late last week, Obama vowed anew that "health insurance reform cannot add to our deficit over the next decade and I mean it."

The nation's debt — the total of accumulated annual budget deficits — now stands at $11.6 trillion. In the scheme of things, that's more important than talking about the "deficit," which only looks at a one-year slice of bookkeeping and totally ignores previous indebtedness that is still outstanding.

Even so, the administration has projected that the annual deficit for the current budget year will hit $1.84 trillion, four times the size of last year's deficit of $455 billion. Private forecasters suggest that shortfall may actually top $2 trillion.

The administration has projected that the annual deficit for the current budget year will hit $1.84 trillion, four times the size of last year's deficit of $455 billion. Private forecasters suggest that shortfall may top $2 trillion.

If a higher deficit and lower growth numbers are not part of the administration's budget update, that will lead to charges that the White House is manipulating its figures to offer too rosy an outlook — the same criticism leveled at previous administrations.

The midsession review by the White House's Office of Management and Budget will likely reflect weaker numbers. But where is it?

White House officials say it is now expected in mid-August. They blame the delay on the fact that this is a transition year between presidencies and note that Obama didn't release his full budget until early May — instead of the first week in February, when he put out just an outline.

Still, the update mainly involves plugging in changes in economic indicators, not revising program-by-program details. And indicators such as unemployment and gross domestic product changes have been public knowledge for some time.

Standard & Poor's chief economist David Wyss said part of the problem with the administration's earlier numbers is that "they were just stale," essentially put together by budget number-crunchers at the end of last year, before the sharp drop in the economy.

Wyss, like many other economists, says he expects the recession to last at least until September or October. "We're looking for basically a zero second half (of 2009). And then sluggish recovery," he said.

Orszag, making the rounds of Sunday talk shows, insisted the economy at the end of last year, which the White House used for its optimistic budget forecasts, "was weaker at that time than anyone anticipated." He cited a "sense of free fall" not fully recognized at the time.

"It's going to take time to work our way out of it," the White House budget director told "Fox News Sunday."

Even as it prepares to put larger deficit and smaller growth figures into its official forecast, the administration is looking for signs of improvement.

"If we were at the brink of catastrophe at the beginning of the year, we have walked some substantial distance back from the abyss," said Lawrence Summers, Obama's chief economic adviser.

Obama Magazine Report Episode IV - Opps Lost One

President Obama has had a mixed month on the magazine front. Not only has Michael Jackson knocked him off of some of the entertainment and "soft-news" of his ardent supporters has "flipped" upon him - at least for one issue.

As you see Jezebel has a Michell Obama puff piece. (Why do I need to purchase this when I can go to Jack & Jill Politics or Black Snob and get this for free?)
Of course Essence - has "Michael Obama's Work Out Plan" (printed across the top).

But Harper's !!!!!
Did they allow the conservatives to take over this month's edition while the liberals went on "holiday"? What gives?

First they have an article entitled "Barack Hoover Obama" - in reference to the "Great Depression Era - REPUBLICAN President". Come on now. Obama is pegged as the next "FDR", not Hoover. What is Harpers doing? They always did like to rabblerouse.

Then they presented a piece entitled "Yes We Can Still Torture". The nerve of them!!!
But then again - Its all Obama's fault. Had he just went along and released the "torture pictures" just as his lefty buddies had wanted - they would not have attacked - I am sure.

But Obama has an opportunity to reclaim himself. If he allows his Attorney General to go after Dick Cheney for his plan to TORTURE Al Queda - GET THIS - by KILLING THEM.........Obama may get back into the good graces of Harpers. Cheney failed to tell congress after all.

Good News Black Obamites!! The GROWTH Of Black Unemployment Has Slowed!

Growth in unemployment slows down

You gotta love the editors of these news stories.

Net GROWTH is now "A Slowing Growth".

Black men, too, actually have higher rates than the official unemployment rate of 16.4 percent reported in June, Mr. Holzer said.

Teenagers, officially those aged 16 to 19, had particularly high rates of unemployment. Unemployment for white teens last month was reported at 21.4 percent while black teens were far worse off with a 37.9 percent unemployment rate. That translated to 1.16 million unemployed white teenagers and 276,000 unemployed black teenagers.

Overall unemployment officially hit 14.7 percent for black men and women of all ages, but Algernon Austin, director of the Program on Race, Ethnicity and the Economy for the Economic Policy Institute in Washington, D.C., said it is probably closer to 16.5 percent. It's difficult to contact and accurately survey unemployed people.

He said African-American unemployment would have climbed higher if that population had been swept into the housing boom that led up to the housing bust.

After Obama - The Reporting On Total American War Casualties Has CHANGED

3 British soldiers killed in southern Afghanistan

(Note: The link describes the article that I am looking at in the printed edition about 2 American soldiers that were killed. A typo in the link has it pointing to a story about 3 British soldiers that were killed.

Unlike the story about the dead American soldiers, the story above does give the total of 174 British soldiers killed in Afghanistan since the start of the war.

Where as I learned from "Worldview" on PBS that America is approaching 1,000 soldiers dead in Afghanistan - this number is rarely tabulated in the current reports coming out of Iraq or Afghanistan.

Over the past few years were were inundated with tallies of dead American soliders - to accompany the Anti-War rallies. Today - CHANGE HAS COME!!!

Not only have the Anti-War Protests gone away - despite the wars continuing - these tallies are no longer provided to give Americans a global summary of the impact of these wars.

Its not like the news media seeks to damage the president any longer.

Federal Democrats Seek To Trim Obama's "Right" To Health Care By $400 Billion

Kennedy-Dodd plan is estimated to cost $611 billion, down from $1 trillion

Now keep in mind - this "camels nose under the tent" is merely an attempt to get this bill passed. If they say that it will cost $600 billion over 10 years - YET Medicare Part D was ONLY prescription drugs senior citizens - a select group of the population - can someone tell me how they are going to keep this bundle of health care spending at $611 billion over the same interval of time?

I assure you that the $611 billion will grow to about $1,800 billion as future congresses are made aware of continued "unfairness" and thus more people are added to the roles.

Brothers That You Need To Tell To Be On Their Best Behavior Now That Obama Is President

(File this one under "Damn! Damn! Damn! Damn!Damn!)

So frequently you can hear Black people say that we need to support Obama in doing a "good job" because if he messes up THEY will not allow another Black man to be president for a long time 'after Obama'.

Following my theory that that which happens at the periphery is far more important than what happens at the central authority - I would like to submit that THIS BLACK MAN pictured has done far more damage to the reputation of Black people that even Barack Obama as one man might be able to permanently repair.

This guy pictured has been dressing up "business casual' and carrying a brief case around as a ploy to gain admission to several office buildings in a downtown area. Once he is allowed in, he finds a vacant cubicle and seeks to steal laptops or other computer equipment during business hours.

HE is a threat to all Black men who have authorization to enter into the office building but who will now be PROFILED to make sure that they don't look like this guy.

When a White colleague of mine escorted me into this building that I was visiting he asked me to look at the sign on the other side of the glass to see something funny. Later on I excused myself to go to the bathroom and took a picture of the sign.

IF ONLY the Black community would turn their desire to have "Barack Obama to not mess up" into some sort of temperance movement for Thugs, Pirates and Petty Thieves like this one - THEN I would go along with it. Instead you all use these words to suspend criticism of Barack Obama.

Negros like THIS ONE are whom you need to be focusing on.
