After Obama - Justice Department Intervention In Criminal Investigations On Voting Rights Tampering Is O.K.

Career lawyers overruled on voting case
Black Panthers had wielded weapons, blocked polls

OH those "Career Lawyers" in the US Justice Department. You remember them right?
Recall when Tom "The Hammer" Delay did his mid-decade redistricting in Texas? The Bush Administration overruled the "career lawyers" in the Justice Department and this was seen as a political manipulation of justice.

Add this story to my continuing chronicle of how a "public outrage" needs BACKING for the same activity to actually garner outrage. Of course incessant hyping on MSNBC, CNN, the NY Times and LA Times sure helps.

Justice Department political appointees overruled career lawyers and ended a civil complaint accusing three members of the New Black Panther Party for Self-Defense of wielding a nightstick and intimidating voters at a Philadelphia polling place last Election Day, according to documents and interviews.

The incident - which gained national attention when it was captured on videotape and distributed on YouTube - had prompted the government to sue the men, saying they violated the 1965 Voting Rights Act by scaring would-be voters with the weapon, racial slurs and military-style uniforms.

Career lawyers pursued the case for months, including obtaining an affidavit from a prominent 1960s civil rights activist who witnessed the confrontation and described it as "the most blatant form of voter intimidation" that he had seen, even during the voting rights crisis in Mississippi a half-century ago.

After Cutting $17B Out Of A $3,600B Budget Obama Touts 150K New Jobs After More Than 1,500K Jobs Lost Since He Took Office

Obama Touts Stimulus Bill's First 100 Days

The president calls the stimulus package "the most sweeping economic recovery act in history -- a plan designed to save jobs, create new ones, and put money in people's pockets." He says it has already created or saved nearly 150,000 jobs.

Now I understand our new "Commander In Chief".

If you set ridiculously small goals and achieve them AND you don't have a news media that is attacking you for the veracity of these "shrink goals" the "success" that you claim is success none the less because ITS ON YOUR OWN TERMS!!

Other presidents have "success defined on the terms of the BEST INTERESTS OF THE NATION". For them 150,000 jobs created or saved in the context of 3 months where job losses have been 6 digits would be nothing to brag about. In fact the audacity of bragging about the 150,000 jobs would be grounds for attack.

Welcome to the "America Of Hope". In this time period you will see a news media talking about the "slowing rate of collapse" rather than the fact that there has been an absolute collapse none the less. Indeed the news media has no particular interests in sounding the drum beat of decline. They have the favorable poliitcal arrangement that they have sought. Now it is time to lift the spirits of Americans even if the key measures still point to erosion.

I give credit for the news media's efforts. Last month consumer confidence increased despite all that is collapsing around us. Once again this points to the differences between OPINION POLLS and hard economic measures.

One hundred days after signing the $787 billion economic stimulus package, President Obama declared Wednesday in a Las Vegas speech, "we are already seeing results."

The president called the stimulus package "the most sweeping economic recovery act in history -- a plan designed to save jobs, create new ones and put money in people's pockets." He said it already has created or saved nearly 150,000 jobs.

But a Republican congressman responded seconds after the speech by saying, in effect, not so fast, Mr. President.

Texas Rep. John Culberson called the stimulus package "a fiscal flop and nothing to celebrate," and he said that since the bill was signed Feb. 17, "1.597 million jobs have been lost and unemployment numbers at their highest levels in two decades."

Obama's aides had mocked reporters for making a fuss over his first 100 days in office, but the president was eager to assess the first 100 days of his $787 billion stimulus package.

Obama, despite GOP skepticism, said the stimulus has fueled demand that is helping businesses to put more Americans back to work, but "there are still too many Americans out of work," he said, "and too many who worry that their job may be next."

He also used his stop at an Air Force base Wednesday -- part of a Western trip otherwise devoted to raising political money and promoting his economic policies -- to hail solar energy as a cost saver.

Obama announced more spending for renewable energy after touring a large field of solar panels at Nellis Air Force Base, near Las Vegas. The sun-powered cells provide a quarter of the base's power needs, Obama said, speaking in a large hangar warmed by the desert heat.

"That's the equivalent of powering about 13,200 homes during the day," he said, and it will save the Air Force nearly $1 million a year.

Obama said more than $467 million in stimulus money will be used "to expand and accelerate the development, deployment and use of geothermal and solar energy throughout the United States."

Limbaugh Wonders If MSNBC Can Live For 30 Days Without Talking About Him

Olbermann responds to Limbaugh's 30-day challenge

Please note Keith Olbermann's response to Rush Limbaugh. Olbermann acts as if Limbaugh is pleading with his sorry network to "leave him alone". This is simply not the case.

Rush Limbaugh is not concerned about the series of attacks upon him by Democratic Party aligned operatives. He predicted it back in December. Rush Limbaugh addressed the question as to "Will the media that scrutinized Bush now shift to the Democrats who run the White House, US Senate and US House?". Rush Limbaugh said "NO! They are going to shift their attacks upon the REPUBLICANS who are out of power".

I don't always agree with Rush Limbaugh nor his tactics - but you have to give him credit for understanding how the liberal biased media works.

I did wonder what shows like "The Daily Show" and Steven Colbert's show would go after the Democrats just as they did the Republicans. I forgot to factor in the possibility that they would begin to target the "Right wing media" as they became the opposition to the more favored government in power. (Favored to the leftwing operatives that is).

I some times stomach the MSNBC evening content. What Rush Limbaugh says is true. Just as my friend BET Uncut does - they scrutinize Conservatives regardless of their status in power. Yes one can argue that Fox News does the same thing. The caliber of these two networks could not be more distinct, however. Where as Fox News gets the attacks by the left for being biased at least they have far more substance and depth in their analysis. I long to see Keith Olbermann even invite a LIVE opposition guest on his show to have a debate.

The only conservatives on Keith Olbermann's show are on video tape. Then he invites a live left winger to rebut the tape.

For the record - this is coming from ME - a Conservative who records "Democracy Now" and who is on the record for being a fan of LinkTV. I purchase and read "International Social Review" magazine and other left wing sources that are displayed on the shelves at "Borders Books".

I have said plenty of times - I think that "Democracy Now with Amy Goodman" is far more credible than the shows on MSNBC as they are carrying out a mission of what they ACTUALLY BELIEVE. They attack everyone who violates their ideology. MSNBC is clearly carrying the water for the Democrats and their mission is to hit Republicans. I don't mind consuming left wing news. I just want quality. MSNBC is not quality.

Newsweek Calls Obama's Budget Risky - Rather Than Irresponsible

Obama’s Risky Debt: The president takes another economic gamble.

Just how much government debt does a president have to endorse before he's labeled "irresponsible"? Well, apparently much more than the massive amounts envisioned by President Obama. The final version of his 2010 budget, released last week, is a case study in political expediency and economic gambling.

Let's see. From 2010 to 2019, Obama projects annual deficits totaling $7.1 trillion; that's atop the $1.8 trillion deficit for 2009. By 2019, the ratio of publicly held federal debt to gross domestic product (GDP, or the economy) would reach 70 percent, up from 41 percent in 2008. That would be the highest since 1950 (80 percent). The Congressional Budget Office, using less optimistic economic forecasts, raises these estimates. The 2010-19 deficits would total $9.3 trillion; the debt-to-GDP ratio in 2019 would be 82 percent.

But wait: Even these totals may be understated. By various estimates, Obama's health plan might cost $1.2 trillion over a decade; Obama has budgeted only $635 billion. Next, the huge deficits occur despite a pronounced squeeze of defense spending. From 2008 to 2019, total federal spending would rise 75 percent, but defense spending would increase only 17 percent. Unless foreign threats recede, military spending and deficits might both grow.

Except from crabby Republicans, these astonishing numbers have received little attention -- a tribute to Obama's Zen-like capacity to discourage serious criticism. Everyone's fixated on the present economic crisis, which explains and justifies big deficits (lost revenue, anti-recession spending) for a few years. Hardly anyone notes that huge deficits continue indefinitely.

One reason Obama is so popular is that he has promised almost everyone lower taxes and higher spending. Beyond the undeserving who make more than $250,000, 95 percent of "working families" receive a tax cut. Obama would double federal spending for basic research in "key agencies." He wants to build high-speed-rail networks that would require continuous subsidy. Obama can do all this and more by borrowing.

Consider the extra debt as a proxy for political evasion. The president doesn't want to confront Americans with choices between lower spending and higher taxes—or, given the existing deficits, perhaps both less spending and more taxes. Except for talk, Obama hasn't done anything to reduce the expense of retiring baby boomers. He claims to be containing overall health costs, but he's actually proposing more government spending (see above).

In my opinion President Barack Obama will implement the most popularly accepted populist platform that pushes this nation to the brink of fiscal collapse to a greater extent than any other president in history.

The biggest opposition to Barack Obama will be ECONOMIC REALITIES.

Obama Tells Catholics To Shift Toward His Side And Reduce Abortions

When you have an ABSOLUTE stance on an issue - is someone who tells you to accept a few violations of this absolute respecting your position?

If my religion says that drinking alcohol is a sin - does someone who comes along and seeks to have me take fewer drinks a week a respecter of my religious faith? Or is he an accommodationalist?

As a Christian, non-Catholic, my view is indeed that Abortion takes a being that would have grown into a full human form but for the molestation that it faced within the womb. I agree that there should be cultural based structures set up to REDUCE the numbers of abortions had each year. The intention of zero is more plausible than the actual achievement of zero abortions.

Again, however, THIS IS NOT THE DOCTRINE OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH. This church has a ban on abortions. Thus this is the point that those who agree with the tenants of the Catholic Church must start from. Not from a reductionary perspective as Obama has pronounced.

If Notre Dame is indeed a Catholic institution then the words of Barack Obama were an assault upon

Obamas Host Spoken Word Night At White House

Spoken Word At White House

President and Mrs Obama, with the knowledge that the hate-filled, anti-Imperialist Spoken Word acts heard during "the last 8 years" would NOT be targeted at THEM.....despite the fact that the wars that the artists were angry about are still being conducted, decided to host these spoken-word artists at the White House.

Obama is in good shape!!! First the "attack comedians" avoid hitting him - they voted for him after all. Then at the "White House Correspondents Dinner" in which the sitting president is usually the butt of all the jokes was instead focused on the previous administration.

Now we has a Spoken-Word night with the same confidence that those who were angry 100 days + ago will sound off only melodic words detailing their joy about how his election is proof of their racial and ideological progression in this nation.

When I grow up I want to be a Progressive!! I am envious.

Ethanol To Test Obama's Commitment To Climate Change

Now that we have moved from theory to economic and political reality - Obama is finding things much harder than simply giving speeches on the campaign trail to adoring audiences (and adoring news media outlets)

Obama faces climate change test with ethanol

'Indirect' impacts
Environmentalists, citing various studies and scientific papers, say the agency must factor in more than just the direct, heat-trapping pollution from ethanol and its production. They also point to "indirect" impacts on global warming from worldwide changes in land use, including climate-threatening deforestation, as land is cleared to plant corn or other ethanol crops.

Ethanol manufacturers and agriculture interests contend the fallout from potential land use changes in the future, especially those outside the United States, have not been adequately proven or even quantified, and should not count when the EPA calculates ethanol's climate impact.

"It defies common sense that EPA would publish a proposed rule-making with harmful conclusions for biofuels based on incomplete science and inaccurate assumptions," complained Republican Sen. Charles Grassley, who represents Iowa where corn is a major crop.

He was one of 12 farm-state senators, both Democrats and Republicans, who wrote EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson in March, urging the agency to stick to assessing only the direct emissions.

Ethanol, which in the future may come from cellulosic sources such as switchgrass and wood chips, is promoted by its advocates as a "green" substitute for gasoline that will help the U.S. reduce its reliance on fossil fuels, especially foreign oil. That transition is a priority of the Obama White House.

In 2007, Congress ordered huge increases in ethanol use, requiring refiners to blend 20 billion gallons with gasoline by 2015 and a further expansion to 36 billion gallons a year by 2022.

His new friend Fidel Castro will be highly pissed if the US continues to use corn for fuel rather than food.

US Bomb Kills Afghan Civilians: Rationalization - Bush Was The One Who Started The War

Red Cross says dozens of Afghans killed in US raid

KABUL – Villagers dug dirt graves Wednesday to bury what the international Red Cross said were dozens of Afghans — including women and children — killed in American bombing runs. A former Afghan government official said up to 120 people may have died.
If so, it would be the deadliest case of civilian casualties since the 2001 U.S.-led invasion.
Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said the U.S. "deeply, deeply" regretted the loss of innocent life, and the U.S. military dispatched a brigadier general to investigate the deaths in two villages in western Afghanistan's Farah province.
The top U.S. and NATO commander in Afghanistan, Gen. David McKiernan, voiced doubts about whether it was an American airstrike that caused the tragedy.
McKiernan said U.S. military personnel had come to the aid of Afghan forces who may have been ambushed by Taliban militants on Sunday. He said the Taliban beheaded three civilians, perhaps to lure police.
"We have some other information that leads us to distinctly different conclusions about the cause of the civilian casualties," McKiernan said. He would not elaborate but said the United States was working with the Afghan government to learn the truth.

Let me be clear about my argument. We are at war on this front. Innocent people are going to die as the American forces seek to destroy those who are fighting us that also choose to live among the masses.

This blog is about YOU. Oh how you have changed.

As I drive to work through one elite neighborhood for every "Obama for President" sign on the law there was a "Peace: War Is Not The Answer" sign.

One thing that the new president has purchase is the SILENCE of these people.

Alas I see that in a debate the other day that while indeed people are being killed in the conduct of these wars while Obama is president........IT WAS GEORGE W. BUSH WHO STARTED IT.

As with "Hate Crimes" legislation we should not look exclusively at the fact that a death has occurred but instead focus on the CONTEXT upon which they occurred. This time we must consider the INTENT of President Obama to END THE WAR (Well at least the Iraq War), not the fact that people have been killed and there is no PEACE.

The British Tortured Obama's Kenyan Grandfather

Kenyans Tortured At The Hands Of The British

I would not be surprised at all if the theory used by the researchers that fed Obama this factoid overlooked what the British did to the various African nations because "AFRICANS DON'T COUNT AS FULL HUMAN BEINGS" in the minds of some. The only question is what did the British do to the Germans - their White European brothern which they had a spat with.

American War Deaths After Obama

April deadliest month this year for U.S. troops in Iraq

Do we still have American troops in harms way and getting killed on the battlefield?

You wouldn't think this based on the shifted focus by the mainstream media after they posted their own "Mission Accomplished" banner some 100 + 60 days ago with their electoral victory for "their guy".

The Obama Administration knew that in lifting the previous ban on photographing the flag draped coffins of dead American soldiers returning from the field of battle would be of no consequence to them. The left wing anti-war activists who would be inclined to show dead bodies in the context of seeking to embarrass the US military and the Commander In Chief have little interest in doing so against a commander that they like.

Thus despite the same outcomes (dead Americans) the reactions are markedly different. They focus on INTENTIONS rather than RESULTS.

BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- Three U.S. troops were killed in Iraq on Thursday, making April the deadliest month for U.S. servicemembers this year.
Dozens of Iraqis were killed Wednesday after a series of car bombings in Baghdad.

Dozens of Iraqis were killed Wednesday after a series of car bombings in Baghdad.

Two Marines and a sailor were killed during operations against militants, according to a U.S. military news release. The military did not release the names of the troops.

In April, 18 U.S. troops died in Iraq, according to a CNN count of reported troop fatalities. Sixteen of those troops died in combat.

March's nine fatalities was the lowest death toll for U.S. troops in Iraq since 2003.

April was also the deadliest month this year for Iraqi civilians. At least 290 Iraqi civilians died in April, compared to 185 in March, according to an Interior Ministry official. Nearly 80 Iranian pilgrims were killed in suicide bombings last week.
