Joe The Plumber blamed the overly regulatory and confiscatory GOVERNMENT for not allowing him to be able to purchase a small plumbing company.
Henrietta Hughes demanded that the GOVERNMENT redistribute some aid her way to help her acquire a house.
If anything these two demonstrate the differences between the two parties. One sees prosperity through business. The other sees prosperity via direct government intervention into our personal affairs when we need help.
Joe the Plumber is a moniker applied to Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher during the 2008 U.S. presidential election. Wurzelbacher is a celebrity, author and former plumber. He was videotaped questioning Democratic candidate Barack Obama about his small business tax policy during a campaign stop in Ohio. Republican candidate John McCain then called him "Joe the Plumber" during the third presidential debate on October 15, 2008. The McCain-Palin campaign and the media later applied "Joe the Plumber" as a metaphor for middle class Americans.
Henrietta Hughes appeared on CNN's American Morning Thursday with Chene Thompson, the woman who gave her a house to live in after Hughes told President Obama she was homeless at a Florida town hall Tuesday. Watch the video where Hughes gets emotional and Thompson explains what motivated her to lend a stranger her house.
