The Left: Obama Just Like Bush (Yeah Right)

Some people reading the frustration from the left on various subjects might be inclined to believe that the left actually is speaking with conviction regarding their equation of Obama to Bush.

Don't believe it for a second. This is merely anger.
Their dreams of "Hope and Change" has been smashed by reality.
It was not OBAMA who lied to them.  Obama is now in the seat of power and has to deal with harsh realities.
They remain disconnected and in as much as their theories are abstract as to what one man can actually do - they are disappointed.

I am thankful that it is so difficult to execute radical policy changes through the legislative and executive process.  It keeps our ship steady.

Yet even though the Democrats control the US House, the US Senate and the Presidency - the blame for the obstructionism goes to the Republicans.   This Health Care Bill was passed thus far with only one GOP Representative voting in the affirmative.

I will measure the credulity of the left wing comments against Obama by how much they work to unseat him.
Today the very same procedures that they attacked Bush about are being executed but the sustained attacks from the left is what has diminished:

The truth is that the LEFT set all of this up as they PLAYED THEMSELVES for the sake of getting their favored people into power back in Nov 2008.

Sadly - despite them now having the run of things - they are inclined to still attack the conservative minority rather than performing "Introspection Surgery" on their own.

Ditty - A 40 Year Old Man Wants To Be Adopted By Obama

Diddy wants to be adopted by Obama

P Diddy wants to be adopted by US President Barack Obama.

The 40-year-old rapper thinks America's first black leader is a great dad and he would be proud to be his son.

P Diddy - real name Sean Combs - said: "I ain't going to lie - if God said I could pick one person to be my father, I'd want to be Sean Combs Obama.

"That's how dope he is. I hope he reads this interview and adopts me. I wouldn't even have to be in the will. I got my own money!"

P Diddy also believes hip-hop may have played a part in the Democratic senator winning the race for the White House.

He said: "I think we are probably responsible for Obama being in office, ye the confidence, the swagger we instilled in our communities made that possible."

Meanwhile, it has been reported P Diddy is set to marry the mother of his children Kim Porter, even though he is still living with his 23-year-old girlfriend Cassie Venture.

A source said: "He is ready to marry Kim in the New Year and there is no stopping him.

"He has bought her a 12-carat diamond engagement ring and has given Cassie her marching orders."

However, the rap superstar - who has three children, 11-year-old Christian Casey and two-year-old twins D'Lila
Star and Jessie James, with Kim - has already denied the claims.

His spokesperson said: "This rumour happens every year - it isn't true."

Venezuela's Chavez 'Still' Smells Sulfur After Obama Speech

Some people believe that being "Anti-Bush" is enough to pacify these anti-Capitalistic forces in South America.

This is not the case.

They see the United States and Capitalism as the enemy.

Nothing short of an outright repudiation (and money sent their way) is going to allow them to express unconditional love.

Even MSNBC Is Reporting Obama's Approval Ratings Are Below 50%

Poll: Obama approval dips below 50 percent

WASHINGTON - For much of his first year in office, President Barack Obama has largely defied political gravity in the midst of skyrocketing unemployment, an ambitious legislative agenda and wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

His approval rating remained above 50 percent, a plurality viewed his party positively, and even the number believing the country was on the right track — despite the bad news — temporarily spiked during his first few months on the job.

But now nearing the end of his first year in office, the economy, the wars and the legislative skirmishes finally have taken a toll on the president and his party, according to the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll.

For the first time, Obama’s overall job approval rating has fallen below 50 percent (to 47 percent). In addition, for the first time since Sept. 2007, a plurality (45 percent) sees the Democratic Party in a negative light. And the percentage believing the country is on the wrong track (55 percent) is at its highest level in the Obama presidency.

“This survey underscores what I consider a dramatic and unmistakable change in the political landscape,” said Democratic pollster Peter D. Hart, who conducted the survey with GOP pollster Bill McInturff. “For Democrats, the red flags are flying at full mast.”

“The sagging economy is beginning to drag him down,” McInturff added. “This is increasingly becoming President Obama’s economy.”

Pray For Obama In His First 100 Days - Sent To Me Today Via FaceBook

Not that this particular friend of mine ever had good timing.

I just received a request to "join a cause" in FaceBook.  It is the "Pray For Obama In The First 100 Days" cause.

We are now closing in on the first 365 days of Obama and the Federal Democrats.

My prayer to Obama (not to God):

Obama please, please, please make note that there is some "cost" to the spending that you are proposing.

When you do raise taxes (and you will) - please make sure you go after those who believe in expanded entitlement rights, allowing them to put their money where their mouths are in regards to helping their fellow man.

Leftist / Anti-Capitalists Revolt Against Obama In The USA and South America

Most of you have heard about the revolt by the leftists in the Congressional Black Caucus, joint with their Racial "Unattached" Black Leftists in criticizing President Obama for 'not doing enough for Black people".

What you have not likely heard is about the ALBA Conference in South America.  All of the leftist leaders in South America recently gathered together.  They attacked capitalism and imperialism.  Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez accused America lead by Barack Obama of seeking to topple left wing leaders on the continent and used the dilemma  in Honduras as proof that the United States is the hidden hand in supporting Right-wing attacks again them.

The audience was packed with hundreds of Cuban medical students who had received free education and were disbursed throughout the region to provide medical care to the masses.

Some people are prone to say "What are they talking about?  This is Barack Obama.  He is a leftist as well.  The US Congress is lead by leftists.  The SA region has less to worry about now more than ever.".

Instead we need to look at this from the standpoint that these leftists.  They need a "boogie man" and the United States makes a good one, regardless of who is in power.  These rants should chip away at their credibility.

Nancy Pelosi: Obama's "Dick Cheney"?

Personal analysis - I don't like Pelosi's agenda so the fact that she and Obama are tied at the hip makes it clear my views of him.  Add this to the long list of rogues that he finds favor in.

Cooperation with Pelosi pivotal to Obama

In the 10 months since then, Pelosi has successfully done what she's needed to do to push Obama's agenda through the House -- so much so, that some have asserted she's more effective than the president.
"I think she is a very effective speaker. She can deliver votes. Since 2006, since the Democrats took over, she's consistently been able to unite the Democratic caucus," said Julian Zelizer, a professor of history and public affairs at Princeton University.
Last month, Pelosi cut deals in order to get the Democrats' health care bill passed in the House. She was hands-on in the negotiations, agreeing to a less-robust public option than she originally wanted and allowing a vote on an amendment banning most abortion coverage from the public option. She's also played a key role in getting some of Obama's other priorities through her chamber, including the stimulus bill and the budget.
"Thus far, President Obama -- I think the jury is still out. He doesn't have a huge legislative record, we're still waiting to see what happens with health care. But [Pelosi's] delivered the votes already," Zelizer said.
Pelosi has a longer resume than the president, but it doesn't mean she carries more weight, Zelizer said.
"I don't think she is more powerful than the president; I think she's just been thus far able to deliver the votes that she's responsible for affecting," he said.

Obama's First Use Of "Executive Privilege" Against Congressional Testimony- The Social Secretary

If this is not emblematic of this presidency - I don't know what is.

In the past '8 years' executive privilege was used in regards to Assistant Attorney Generals and Wars.

Big Bird Is A RACIST - Asks Mrs Obama If She Is A Byrd Like Him

Though there is a hint of sarcasm in this piece it is merely a call for consistency.

IF certain folks are going to go "ape *#&#" over animalistic references to the Obamas in the name of criticism then we should also make note of these same reference in the context of compliments.

Oh Yeah? Well When Bush Kept "State Secrets" It Was For Evil. Obama's Secrets Are For The Good Of America

Newsweek: Obama Secrecy Watch II: A State Secrets Affidavit Straight from the Bush Era

Newsweek article:

When Attorney General Eric Holder invoked the “state secrets” privilege to quash a lawsuit alleging illegal National Security Agency spying last Friday night, his department’s lawyers sounded a lot like those who worked for President George W. Bush. In fact, they justified the action by filing an affidavit from President Obama’s director of national intelligence that is nearly identical to one filed by President Bush’s intelligence director two years ago.

The strikingly similar affidavit—making the same arguments in the almost exactly the same language—is among the strongest examples yet of how Obama administration officials are adopting Bush-era secrecy positions in major national security cases.

Holder’s move came in the case of Shubert v. Obama, a lawsuit filed in 2006 by four residents of Brooklyn, New York. They allege that their overseas phone calls were illegally intercepted by the NSA as part of a massive “dragnet” of warrantless surveillance ordered by Bush after the Sept. 11 attacks.

“It is my judgment that sensitive state secrets are so central to the subject matter of the litigation that any attempt to proceed in the case will…risk exceptionally grave damage to the national security of the United States,” national intelligence director Dennis Blair wrote in an affidavit submitted by Justice Department lawyers on Oct. 30. If that language sounded familiar to the court, it’s because it was: “It is my judgment that sensitive state secrets are so central to the subject matter of the litigation that any attempt to proceed in the case will…risk exceptionally grave damage to the national security of the United States,” wrote J. Michael McConnell, Bush’s intel chief, in an affidavit filed on May 25, 2007, in the same case.

“This is Bush 2. It’s Bush the sequel,” said Ilann Maazel, the lawyer for the Shubert plaintiffs, after reading the Justice Department’s motion and the accompanying affidavit by Blair. “They [the Obama officials] are saying the same thing: ‘Were not going to tell you what our spying program is—and even if it’s illegal, you can’t stop it.’” Asked for comment, Wendy Morigi, a spokeswoman for Blair, said: “Given that the plaintiffs allegations have not changed since the privilege was asserted two years ago, it is not surprising that the declarations are very similar.”

The McConnell affidavit had originally been filed when the Justice Department (then headed by attorney general Alberto Gonzales) first invoked state secrets in the Shubert case, arguing there was no way any aspect of the lawsuit could be litigated without jeopardizing national security. But last spring, a federal judge in San Francisco invited the Justice Department to revisit its position. He did so after a three-judge panel of the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals rejected as overly broad a similar government claim of state secrets in another lawsuit. That case, known as Mohammed v. Jeppesen Dataplan, was filed by former detainees against a Boeing subsidiary that allegedly participated in the CIA’s “extraordinary rendition” of terror suspects to foreign countries that practice torture. In essence, the appellate court concluded that if the Justice Department wanted to invoke state secrets to prevent matters from being heard by a federal court, it must do so regarding specific pieces of evidence only—and could not use the state secrets privilege as a blanket claim to quash the entire lawsuit before it even gets off the ground.

But despite a new policy, announced just last month, that was supposed to limit the use of the state secrets privilege, Holder (after what he called “a careful and thorough review process”) chose to stick with the same position as that taken by the Bush administration. What’s more, the Justice Department didn’t even bother changing the language of many of its arguments.

Obama Pays Tribute To The Dead At Dover Air Force Base

AJC's Jay Bookman: President pays respects to America’s fallen

Take a listen to the Al Jezeera report above.
They tell you "that" the media review of the return of dead soldiers from the battlefield has declined since Obama has been in office. They fail to tell you WHY.

They mention that in the past the pictures of the flag draped coffins had been banned. They don't give you context. At the start of the two wars - the anti-war activists made use of these pictures as a means of embarrassing Bush. This was the evidence of the BLOOD THAT BUSH HAD ON HIS HANDS.

I told you previously that Obama lifting of the ban would have no impact upon him. Not that the coffins stopped coming home. The MOTIVATION of the media has changed. They have no interest in "embarrassing Barack Obama", thus hurting his presidency and, perish the thought - putting a Republican War Hawk back into office.

So what about the right wing? Why shouldn't they exploit pictures of dead soldiers? This is a leftwing focus - that's why. The right is not inclined to attack the US military. Thus in this case, as with so many other points, the attacks upon a liberal president from the right takes a different form than how the left attacks a right wing president.

Words From The Man Who Inspired The Name Of This Blog - Spike Lee

Sometimes the best way to air the sordid details of the forces that are operating around us, seeking to influence us is to allow their words to flow freely.

Here is a piece in the November 2009 edition of Essence Magazine from filmmaker Spike Lee

High-Wire Act
Spike Lee considers what President Obama will need FROM US to succeed

Barack Obama's intelligence and generosity are vast. These are things any person can benefit from. But I think a lot of people felt life with an African-American president was going to be presto, chango! I'm not talking about economy, but racism. As a people, we have to understand Obama has to be president of the entire United States of America. It's unprecedented what he's doing. He's on uncharted waters. He needs our support, he needs our prayers, he needs our help in moving forward. He has definite influence on boys. I see it with my 12-year old son, Jackson. If someone says something critical of Obama, he's not having it! He'll say, "What do you want him to do? He's doing his job!" He's proud of his president. But he knows Obama can't do it all alone.

Supposedly The Secret Service Straining To Keep Up With Obama Death Threats

Secret Service strained as leaders face more threats

Keep in mind that the Secret Service does not discuss their investigations so most of this report is speculation.

The Boston Globe and MSNBC which is pushing this notion about "rampant Obama death threats" have some vested interests in making the case that there is an all time rise in "right wing" militia groups that hate Obama for racist reasons.

YET, neither one of them question the logic of the Secret Service going after teen aged kids posting threats to Obama on FACEBOOK and the worth of expending resources on these "script kiddies".

Obama Administration Bans Photos Of Dying Soldiers. No Protests From The Left - As Long As They Can Take Pictures Of The Coffins

AP Photo of Dying Soldier Sparks Ban on Death Photos in Afghanistan

Recall the rantings by the American left regarding the Bush era ban on photographs of "Flag Draped Coffins" returning to the USA at Dover Air Force base.

I told you at that time that Obama's lifting the ban was immaterial. The left wing which is most likely to exploit the coffins as a means of embarrassing the president have no strong motivation to attack Obama. This was one of the easiest decisions for Obama to make.

Obama could outright ban anti-war protests. In as much as there are so few going on right now, once again, its no big deal.

Thus we see yet another opportunity for the left wing press to attack the Obama administration for limiting their ability to do factual reporting about the war. Thus far there has been no outrage about the photo ban from the battlefield where soldier's are dying.

(ChattahBox)—On September 4, the Associated Press published a controversial photo of Lance Cpl. Joshua M. Bernard, as he lay dying on the dusty ground in Afghanistan, over the objections of his family and U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates. Other newspapers refused to follow suit out of respect for the soldier’s family, but the image was widely distributed over the Internet.

Now, the U.S. military in eastern Afghanistan has changed its media embed rules to ban pictures of troops killed in action.

A new ground rules document released Sept. 15 by Regional Command East at Bagram Air Field reads: “Media will not be allowed to photograph or record video of U.S. personnel killed in action.”

Previous language said, “Media will not be prohibited from covering casualties” as long as a series of conditions are met.”

Master Sgt. Tom Clementson of Regional Command East Public Affairs, referred to the new language, as “a clarification rather than a new rule.”

The new language was added in the wake of the controversy surrounding the publication of Lance Cpl. Joshua M. Bernard’s dying photo, by the AP, taken by photographer Julie Jacobson. Bernard was mortally injured, after being hit by a rocket-propelled grenade and lost one of his legs.

Other embed agreements do not ban photos of killed-in-action casualties, as long as certain conditions are complied with. But the AP’s release of the soldier’s dying photo in defiance of the family’s wishes, certainly caused outrage in the military.

Huffington Post: Study Shows Anti-Obama Stance Not Racist But That Of A Wierd Ideology

Note: I typically don't syndicate Huffington Post propaganda but it is unavoidable.

GOP Base Driven By Bizarre Ideology, Not Racism, Report Finds

When Stan Greenberg and fellow Democratic researchers launched a study of the conservative Republican world's reaction to President Obama, he figured they'd find ample evidence of racism.

They didn't. Not at all.

"Race just wasn't brought up," said a surprised Greenberg on a conference call with reporters Friday. He said that the focus groups were given as much time to talk about race as they could possibly need.

"If there was any kind of a racial element, we thought we'd pick it up. We didn't," said James Carville, who also worked on the report.

And when asked who spoke for the Republican Party, the answer was overwhelmingly: Fox News.

The study was done by Democracy Corps and Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research and was also authored by Karl Agne and Jim Gerstein.

What drives the GOP base, rather than race, was a genuine belief that Obama has a "secret agenda" to drive the country in a socialist direction, said the authors. These voters want more opposition, not more cooperation.

"They want more opposition," said Carville. "If you don't wanna get primary-ed, there's nothing in this [report] that tells [a GOP member of Congress] to go compromise on anything. Quite the contrary."

Obama Self-Adornment

I Have Respect For The People Who "Hate War" More Than They "Love Obama"

For antiwar protesters, the cause isn't lost

I imagine that 98% of the protesters have the man that they voted for in office as President. I also note the lack of "Anti-Obama" signs in the protests.

I disagree with the majority of their views.

Despite all of this I have to give these Anti-War protesters credit. They have shown a commitment to their Anti-War beliefs, placing them higher than their favorable views of President Obama.

The vast majority of their anti-war friends have no plans to join them, despite the fact that the 2 wars continue today.

Harry Belafonte - Barack Obama Needs Our Support (Didn't Mention That 2 Wars Continue)

Most other elected officials must be "HELD ACCOUNTABLE".
Barack Obama must be "HELPED".
I see how this works.

AMERICAN artistes Harry Belafonte and Danny Glover have said US President Barack Obama needs support if he has to effect the change he promised.
Addressing journalists here in Havana, Cuba on Friday evening following the inauguration of the Travelling Caribbean Film Show and offices in Cuba, Belafonte said the world is in front of a crisis.

"Many people have high hopes but little of the hope is realised, delivered as promised," he said. "President Obama raised great optimism but it is not enough for us to stand back and watch him face the many complicated problems alone. All of us must get behind him and if it is necessary force him to make, execute policies to the interests of Africa and Afro-Americans, and the marginalised peoples of the world."

Belafonte said President Obama was the hope for those who looked for a better world.

"He [President Obama] spoke strongly for change and I think he meant change for everyone," he said. "We seek that he directs that change to our interests."

Harry Belafonte and Danny Glover Open Cuba Film Office

HAVANA, Cuba (ACN) -- American artistes Harry Belafonte and Danny Glover inaugurated on Friday the Havana office of the traveling Caribbean film festival, which is celebrating its second edition.

The opening of a venue of this project that includes traveling Caribbean film showcases dedicated to children and adolescents received strong support that will allow the further expansion of the initiative, which has already reached 31 countries in the area.

Cuban Culture Minister Abel Prieto, who attended the inauguration of the office, highlighted the talent and ethical values of the two American artists. He stressed that both artistes have paid high price for their solidarity and faithfulness to their own principles. Glover and Belafonte officially inaugurated the new venue.

What a conundrum.

The ideological bigots who have set the standard that "Those who protest against Obama with hate filled signs are racists" now find themselves seeking to maintain their consistency as they protest the G-20, IMF, World Bank and of course - the sitting president.

I am looking forward to seeing a strong left wing protest march in which the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES is attacked - just as the other 43 were.

Oh No She Didn't - Not At The Oscars!!!

(hat tip - Black Political Thought Blog)

Actress Victoria Rowell

Thank You Obama For Warning Us Not To Look For Jobs Until 2010 - We Won't Hold You Accountable Because You Are Honest With Us

Obama: Economy probably won't produce enough jobs until 2010

I miss an adversarial debater named "News Junkie". During the middle years of the Bush Administration I used to participate at the "ReddingNewsReview.com" message board. NewsJunkie was a Black female, loyal Democrat who did everything possible to upend George W Bush.

I recall that the culture on the board had us seeing the "First Friday Job Report" as some lotto drawing. If the number was good - the conservatives did a "nah nah nah nah nah" to the Bush haters. When the numbers were below 120,000 the anti-Bush forces had a field day. Now that I think of it, there was another poster - "Saxman" who introduced the constraint of what a "good jobs report" was. He produced some report that said the nation needed to create 150,000 new addresses each month in order to cover our natural population growth. Thus we should be mindful of the consciousness at the time: It was not just positive jobs growth that was required but instead the growth was qualified. There needed to be growth above 150K or "Bush Failed".

My friend NewsJunkie always made the case that we were in a "Jobless Recovery". Her favorite economic source was the progressive biased "Economic Policy Institute". They constantly hammered Bush as having the WEAKEST recovery of all recoveries in recent history.

After Obama: Less Bad News Is Good News

Fast forward to today. Now we have President Obama seeking to get a pass on job growth until next year.

Does anyone suspect that if in2010 we don't see the steady 150K per month in (green) job growth that we will be hearing two things:
  • The "Bush Era Recession" was more destructive than we thought. We need you to stay with us through the 2010 elections rather than "changing horse in the middle of the stream"
  • If the Republicans did not force my Green Czar Van Jones out HE would have created about 200,000 in Green Jobs every month. Get the Republicans to back off of me so I can work for the best interests of the American people

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President Barack Obama says that despite signs of economic recovery, the country will not see large-scale job growth until next year. In a wide-ranging interview broadcast Sunday on CNN's State of the Union, Obama said reversing job losses from the recession comes at the end of the recovery period, not the start.

"I want to be clear, that probably the jobs picture is not going to improve considerably -- and it could even get a little bit worse -- over the next couple of months," Obama told CNN Chief National Correspondent John King in the interview conducted Friday.

Obama explained that he believes the economy will be creating jobs through the end of 2009 -- but not enough to keep pace with population growth and to make up for steep losses in employment that occurred earlier this year.

"I think we'll be adding jobs, but you need 150,000 additional jobs each month just to keep pace with a growing population," the president said. "So if we're only adding 50,000 jobs, that's a great reversal from losing 700,000 jobs [a month] early this year -- but, you know, it means that we've still got a ways to go."

He called the issue "something that I ask every single one of my economic advisers every single day, because I know that ultimately the measure of an economy is, is it producing jobs that help people support families, send their kids to college?"

"That's the single most important thing we can do," Obama said.
